位於雲林斗六的欣欣生技食品股份有限公司，是全臺唯一生產軍用罐頭的工廠，專門製造軍用罐頭、肉乾及口糧餅乾，除販售各式食品給一般民眾，也長期供應國軍需求，生產國軍戰備食品，並為滿足民眾及退役官兵，亦開放國軍招牌紅燒牛肉、豬肉罐頭及經典口糧餅乾進行販售。

 Hsin Hsin Biotech Company was founded in 1973 to produce various preparations and packages of food for the R.O.C. Armed Forces. Its major mission was to provide a variety of military rations to maintain food logistics for combat-ready purposes. Military rations make it easy for the troops to take a meal while training in the field. All kinds of the canned food products consumed in the military are made by the Hsin Hsin Biotech Company. Since 2011, the original state-run enterprise has been transformed into a private company, aiming to actively develop the markets for mass consumption with more multiple choices as well as to continually supply the needs of the R.O.C. military forces.

 Speaking to its origin, the military canned foods and rations made in Taiwan had their roots in the experiences of the August 23rd Artillery Bombardment occurred in 1958. Back then, smoke rising from cooking fires was easily detected and located by the enemy as a target to attack. To fix this issue, therefore, the R.O.C. military, with the assistance of the U.S. military, favorably acquired the techniques and recipes to produce the field rations and canned foods. The R.O.C. Combined Logistics Provisions Depot took charge of the mission to produce and supply all of the field rations, which were considered the beginning of the military canned foods.

 The company renders full support to supply combat-ready rations to the R.O.C. Armed Forces, said Ming-sheng Cao, the general manager of the Hsin Hsin Biotech Company. At present, the canned foods provided to the military food depots all around Taiwan include beef, pork, wheat gluten, steamed minced pork with pickles, sweet peanut soup, Laba congee and pineapple. In addition, the company also attempts to introduce more variety by developing military field rations pre-packaged with a flameless heater for each entrée, air-force survival ration and navy survival ration. Those rations are produced through a well-knit process with nutrient-rich and high-quality ingredients, making them so popular to those who have ever served in the military.

 In the early stage, the military canned foods served only to those soldiers in the offshore islands around Taiwan. The living environment out there were pretty rigid in those days. It was a great happiness for soldiers serving there to dine the canned beef as well as pork with a nostalgia full of their hometown flavors. With such rationed foods provided in the military, a great deal of soldiers may feel warmer both in their hearts and stomachs. To those who served in the military, those were the days accompanied by the canned foods serving for the wonderful experience of a lifetime. Quite a few veterans still go buy the food products made by the Hsin-hsin Biotech Company while recalling the old tastes so familiar to their taste buds. The military canned foods are not only the old tastes for the old soldiers, but also an unforgettable past extending to those days while in uniform on duty to safeguard national security for Taiwan.
