Both the T93 and T93K1 Sniper Rifle are adopted as the standard weapon for the snipers in the R.O.C. Armed Forces. Designed and manufactured by the 205th Armory, the 7.62×51mm NATO caliber bolt-action rifle provides high precision and great firing power. With these features, a well-trained sniper can bound himself/herself in oneness to the given sniper rifle with high-magnification optics and serve as the crucial element of combat power to gun down unsuspicious enemy in an asymmetrical manner.
The T93 Sniper Rifle was fielded to the R.O.C. troops in 2008. Developed by the 205th Armory to serve as a powerful asset in ground warfare stand-off combat, the rifle was largely based on the US-made M24 Sniper Weapon System (SWS), the military version of the Remington Model 700 rifle. Feeding from a 5-round internal magazine, the T93 Sniper Rifle adopts manually actuated bolt-action system, a free floating barrel with 7.62×51mm NATO caliber, and a detachable Harris Ultralight 1A2-Series Bipod with five barrel height settings. With all these superb elements for the dedicated sniper role, this rifle can meet various tactical requirements.
The T93K1 Sniper Rifle, currently used by the snipers of the R.O.C. Army, is an improved version of the T93 Sniper Rifle, with some modification to feed ammunition. The T93K1 itself also comes with a detachable sound suppressor. The T93K1 features a 10-round detachable box magazine, making it to feed cartridge much faster than the T93 bolt action sniper rifle. The T93K1 is a reliable and accurate sniper rifle to engage multiple targets at a long distance to meet the operational and tactical needs for urban operations.
Based on the U.S. Army’s successful experience to convert M24 rifle into M24A2 and M24A3, both the T93 and the T93K1 Sniper Rifle were indigenously developed in terms of modular weapon system (MWS) to effectively save time and cost within constraint budget and meet the tactical requirements for the R.O.C. Armed Forces.
